When it comes to cleaning your home, you don’t have to empty your wallet on expensive and environmentally unsafe products. In fact, we highly suggest you don’t. We wouldn’t be able to call ourselves Go Green Cleaning Experts if we didn’t offer you green alternatives to clean your home this spring.

Here are five DIY cleaning products you should try using in your home.

Diluted White Vinegar

Vinegar is a fantastic alternative to bleach because it works just as effectively at cleaning hard surfaces and breaking down mold. White vinegar works even better at dissolve dirt, soap scum, and hard water deposits, but it’s gentle enough to use on your hardwood flooring.

It’ll naturally deodorize your home and won’t leave any stains on tiled surfaces, like in your bathroom. And it makes an amazing fabric softener because it eliminates detergent residue.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is naturally abrasive and deodorizing, so it’s perfect for scrubbing off stuck-on scum and bathroom grime. Use a damp sponge with baking soda to tackle grimy bathtub rings, and use it to clean and deodorize your kitchen sink.

If the dirt and grime won’t come off too easily, make a paste out of the baking soda with water and spread throughout the affected areas of your tub, sink, or other hard surface and wait 10 to 20 minutes for it to take effect. For good measure, pour a ½ cup or a ¾ cup of baking soda with hot water down your sink, shower, and tub drains and let sit overnight to keep your drains smelling sweet.

Rubbing Alcohol

Rubbing alcohol, also known as isopropyl alcohol is a green alternative to commercial, glass-cleaning solutions. You can use rubbing alcohol on any glass surface to get rid of tough spots, glass rings, and dust.

Bon Ami Powder Cleanser

Living up to its name, this powder cleanser does act like a “good friend” to us. We love it because it uses naturally soft abrasives like feldspar and limestone that will absorb odors and eliminate dirt, dust, grime, and scum. It’s non-toxic and biodegradable, so it’ll not only clean your home — it’ll help keep our environment clean.

Thieves Household Disinfectant Cleaner

We absolutely love using essential oils when we clean! So, it works out perfectly that the Thieves Household Disinfectant Cleaner is powered by the Thieves Essential Oil, which is a powerful blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus, radiata, and rosemary essential oils.

And it’s quite the multi-tasker — you can use this disinfectant with the white vinegar from above to clean glass, with baking soda to clean hard surfaces, or with hot water to clean your carpet.

Whatever way you use it, you’ll make out like a thief!
